Somers Point was once known as the Somerset Plantation and its settlement started around 1693. Somers Point is located approximately ten miles south-west of Atlantic City on Greate Egg Harbor Bay, where we have the charm of a quaint Bay Village reminiscent of the days of great fishing and shipbuilding which were the mainstay of old South Jersey. Somers Point is on the other side of the Bay adjacent to Egg Harbor Township. Somers Point was originally incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 24, 1886, from portions of Egg Harbor Township. The city has a total area of 5.17 square miles (13.4 km2), of which, 4.03 square miles of it is land and 1.14 square miles of it is water.
It is a thriving community with Single Family homes, Condos, Multi Family homes and land for sale. It has many fine restaurants and marinas and a fabulous view of the bay from Kennedy Park (once known as “High Banks Park”) this little town is one of the great attractions to the Jersey Shore.
